OPTOTEST FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT PASSES AWAY
OptoTest founder and president Richard Buerli, 58, passed away on Saturday, November 16 after a battle with cancer.
Buerli, who moved from his native Switzerland 30
years ago, was hired on as a software engineer at Photodyne, Inc., a pioneer in fiber optic test equipment. With a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Buerli founded OptoTest 11 years ago in his garage and
grew the company to a world-wide leader in fiber
With his foresight and vision, he recognized the need for fiber optic testing in a manufacturing process.
To fill this need, Buerli led OptoTest to manufacture innovative and well-designed products that meet the demanding needs for efficient fiber optic testing.
In the interim, Robert Rickenbach, founder of RIFOCS Corporation, will continue to lead the company. Richard's son, Michael Buerli, is also an engineer and actively worked at OptoTest. He is expected to take a part in the business.

A memorial service will be held on Friday,
November 22 at 1pm at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home in Camarillo, CA, and reception following directly after at OptoTest Headquarters.
