USB Driver Installation

All USB based products from OptoTest are designed around the FTDI chipset. The latest driver and installation instructions should be downloaded from here.

OP250 - Software Interface
The OP250 laser and LED sources can be controlled via USB. The attached VB example shows how to use Visual Basic to control the OP250.
  OP250.DLL is the light version of the DLL to control a single OP250 module
  OP250M.DLL is the library that allows to control of multiple OP250 sources.
OP508/510 - Software Support
The OP508 and OP510 Fiber Optic Power Meter modules are powered and controlled via USB. The library interface (DLL) is described in the attached documents, some VB6 samples are included.

Visual Basic Application includes a simple VB6 project demonstrating the use of the DLL.  
   
OP508/510 - Calibration Support OPL5-Cal
The OPL5-Cal is a standalone calibration utility that allows third parties to calibrate the absolute power reading and linearity of the OP508/510 fiber optic power meter modules. This download requires a password (contact engineering)

OPL5 Power Meter Application for OP508/510

This compact application turns your computer into an optical power meter. It includes a data logger, graphing function and interface to EXCEL spreadsheet for storing data points.

OPL5 Application Self-installing application. (update 6/13/05)
This application requires a OP508/510 module connected to the USB port and previously installed drivers.
OPL5 Demo This application simulates an optical power meter and does not require a OP508/510 module connected to the USB port.

OPL Pro Cable Test Solution

The OPL-Pro Cable Test Solution supports the uni-directional and bi-directional measurement of insertion loss on cables and cable assemblies. 

OPL Pro Demo Self-installing application. (update 12/12/04)
This application requires no hardware to execute. It demonstrates the capabilities of OPL-Pro which include setup of single, dual, unidirectional, bidirectional measurements with pass fail conditions for each wavelength. Measurements are time-stamped and serialized and the data is stored in EXCEL file format for further processing.

OPLProV2 Demo Installation Self-installing application (V2.37 update 1/19/06).
This application requires no hardware to execute. This is the full operational version of OPLProV2 which supports Insertion Loss (IL) and Return Loss (RL) measurements, Template driven report writing and user configurable pass/fail criteria.

OPLProV2 for OP930 Installation  Self-installing application
This application requires an OP930 IL/RL Test Instrument. This is the full operational, trial  version of OPLProV2 which supports Insertion Loss (IL) and Return Loss (RL) measurements, Template driven report writing and user configurable pass/fail criteria.

OPLProV2 MK (815) Installation OPLProV2 MK Version supporting OP815 only.
OPLProV2 MK (930) Installation OPLProV2 MK Version supporting OP930 only.

OPL7 Data Acquisition for OP710

OPL7 allows the user to acquire and log power measurements on multiple channels and store the data into a XLS or CSV file. The sampling rate, and the  graphing of the data is configurable by the user. The application provides a mechanism for simple power monitoring where if a threshold is exceeded an alarm is displayed.

This application requires at least on OP710 connected to the USB port of the computer. 
OPL-LOG Multichannel Data Acquisition 
This timer based data acquisition tool captures insertion loss, return loss as well as temperature from multiple optical power meters (up to 144 channels) and controls multiple sources (discrete or switched). OPL-LOG's powerful sequencer lets the user setup multiple any to any channel configurations. All sequences are stored in EXCEL file format for easy off-line editing and management. The resulting data is automatically written to EXCEL files as a data repository or for further processing.

OPL-Max Multifiber Cable Test Solution
To measure the insertion loss and return loss on any combination of multi-fiber optical cable OPL-Max is a versatile and efficient solution. OPL-Max's powerful sequencer lets the user setup multiple any to any channel configurations. All sequences are stored in EXCEL file format for easy off-line editing and management. The resulting data is automatically written to EXCEL files as a data repository or for further processing, printing of an instant test report is supported.

USB Tools
The following are convenient tools that help you troubleshoot the USB interface.
USBView Freeware that scans the all the USB ports and lists what devices are connected to the ports. It gives the VID (vendor id. =0403) and PID (peripheral id =E758.) of the devices as well as
MultiUSB This application scans for all OptoTest products on the USB bus and displays the model type and serial number. It also allows to test the communication and logs transmission errors.
National Instrument Labview Support

A series of sample VIs have been developed to illustrate how to access the OP-DLLs from within LabView.
